ROBERT SCHUMANN
PIANO MUSIC SERIES
Cho has established a concert series featuring piano works by Robert Schumann in eight different states. Her performances of Schumann's works have been broadcast worldwide on Parma Recordings Live Stage and nationally on WFMT 98.7FM, KOPN Columbia 89.5FM, KUCO Edmond-Oklahoma City, the International Music Foundation YouTube channel, and the Sheldon Concert Hall YouTube channel, among others. Her enthusiasm for Robert Schumann has led her to write an article titled "What Makes Robert Schumann Schumann: Schumann's Creation of Fantasy Borrowed from Literature, Especially E. T. A. Hoffmann's Novel 'The Life and Opinions of Tomcat Murr'.

“Your Schumann is outstanding. Truly inspirational performances.”

"Your playing was so musical, sensitive, and full of color. Your deep understanding of each piece emotionally and structurally was very satisfying to both my heart and my mind. You gave yourself so deeply to the music that I was completely engaged by your performance and very moved by it. Your technique went beyond the typical pianistic virtuosity, displaying incredible tonal control, right down to the softest sounds. We were in a different world by the time you finished, with the audience hushed throughout and lingering in their seats at the end, even though they had deadlines to meet. Thank you for sharing your artistry with us, I would very much enjoy hearing you again."
Karin Edwards, Professor Emeritus of Piano at Wheaton College

"What a solo it was. Pianist Hyejin Cho captured the heart with a stunning 25 minutes of solo work (Robert Schumann's Kinderszenen) at the keyboard. She gave the audience every mood of childhood -- sweet and gentle notes at sleep-time, syncopated notes played crisply and precisely, the begging tones of a child (if a child could speak through a piano), the cheerfulness of a time of pure happiness, the feeling of a warming fire, a lad on his rocking Knight-Horse, fast and furious rolls over the keyboard to convey a fright, the lull back into sleep, and a poetic close.
Hyejin Cho is a find. She participated for two days in this year's Brightmusic Festival and her return is exhilerating to anticipate.
